There are many different types of printers, each called by one of these names: multifunction printer, multifunction product, multifunction peripheral, multifunctional, all-in-one, or multifunction device. All of these essentially mean the same thing, a machine that uses all the functions of multiple devices. Majority of the multifunctional devices will include the combination of these devices: fax machine, printer, copier, scanner, email, etc. There are many different types of multifunctional printers and are categorized by it speed, functions, and duty cycle. The different types of multifunctional printers are categorized by the cost, sturdiness, usability, and output/input, all of these functions are used for the scanner, fax, copier, and printer. There are laser printers and inkjet printers that use different performances and color scheme. There are multiple different categories that have separated the types of multifunctional printers. An AIO is used for a home or office use, it is a small desktop printer that scans and prints. Another type is soho multifunctional printer that is a large freestanding or desktop printer. This is used for basic printing, copying, scan and fax usage, it is a smaller printer unit than the office multifunctional printer.
The middle size printing unit is meant for an office system. It can use the scan, printing, copier, and storage capability. It can also include the final finishing functions as a part of the printer system. These options include duplexing, hole punches, stapling, and booklet production. The largest multifunctional printer is the production printing multifunctional printer, which is meant to be a central printing or reprographic department device. This device has all the functions of the smaller multifunctional printers but does not have the network functions like the smaller devices.
